BAICA is an independent nonprofit association. Our research, guides, and events are free to everyone — but membership is how the work gets done. Members shape our research agenda, review our guidance before it is published, and connect with peers facing the same questions: what to adopt, what to avoid, and how to comply with the EU AI Act before full enforcement on 2 August 2026.

Membership is open to individuals and organisations across the Baltics and Europe. It is free during our founding year (2026).
Two ways to join
Individual membership
For professionals, researchers, educators, and students working in or studying commerce, retail, or AI. You do not need to be an AI specialist.
- Early access to research from our 2026 Baltic AI adoption survey before Q4 2026 release.
- Member sessions — small-group online discussions on tooling, compliance, and data practices.
- Working groups — contribute to Knowledge Hub guides and the Open Case Library.
- Event priority — reserved places starting with Meetup #1 in Riga on 27 July 2026.
- Member newsletter — a concise update on association work and regulatory deadlines.
Organisational membership
For retailers, brands, agencies, universities, and public institutions. Covers your whole team.
- Everything in individual membership, extended to all staff.
- Research participation in the 2026 flagship survey and sector briefings.
- Case Library contribution — publish anonymised or attributed cases.
- Working group seats on responsible AI and EU AI Act readiness.
- Student programme partnership — co-run internships and student projects.
Fees
Membership is free during the association's founding year (2026). Any future membership fees will be set by the Board in line with the statutes. As a Latvian nonprofit (biedrība, Reg. No. 40008360763), all fee income funds public-benefit work: research, free publications, and open events. Members will be given notice before any fee is introduced.

Who can join?
Anyone with a genuine interest in AI in commerce: retail and ecommerce professionals, researchers, educators, students, and organisations of any size. You do not need prior AI experience.
How much does membership cost?
Nothing in 2026. Any future fees will be set by the Board under the statutes.
How much time does membership take?
As much or as little as you choose. Working groups typically meet online once or twice a month; joining one is optional.
Can organisations outside the Baltics join?
Yes. Our focus is Baltic commerce, but our work covers Europe-wide questions and we welcome members from across Europe.
How does the Board decide on applications?
The Board checks each application against the membership criteria in the statutes. Decisions are made within 10 working days.
Can I leave the association?
Yes, at any time, by written notice to the Board. No notice period, no exit obligation.
